Immigration Requirements for Turks and Caicos Relaxed

According to the Jamaica Observer, “The Ministry of Border Control today announced the tripling of the maximum period that business people and tourists can spend in this British Overseas Territory without seeking an extension of stay.

“This means that effective May 1, visitors can now spend three months in the Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI) before applying to stay here longer. Immigration Officers can grant entry to a visitor to enter and remain for a period not exceeding 90 days now, instead of 30.

Clara Gardiner, the permanent secretary at the Ministry of Border Control and Labour said the move displays that the TCI is open for business and investment. “As we look to bring on economic recovery, it’s key that we make it clear that TCI welcomes genuine visitors and investors to the islands. Our new 90-day policy is intended to reflect that,” she said.

Bahamas Real Estate Agents Help Special Needs Home

The Coldwell Banker Lightbourn Realty family recently teamed up to improve the facilities of the Bilney Lane Home for Children.
Brokers and staff pitched in to erect scaffold, pressure wash and paint the covered patio area, including floor, ceiling and railings, as well as the picnic tables.
Eight hours, ten gallons of paint and lots of laughs later, the area was transformed from a grubby patio into a sparkling recreational/dining area.
The surrounding dirt patches were covered with pea rock and landscaped a bit to beautify the area and prevent the patio from getting dirty.
While there, our team took time out to enjoy a pizza party with the special needs children.
Janet Brown, house mother, was so thrilled with the results she invited everyone to return to enjoy a grill on the patio with the six children who call Bilney Lane home.
On April 28, we returned with homemade hamburger patties and the trimmings, and a couple batches or cupcakes and brownies.
There were lots of giggles and our team fell in love with the kids.
“The children really enjoy our visits,” said Heather Peterson, broker and president of Inner Wheel.
“They don’t have family to come and visit so they really enjoy it when people visit and show they care.”

Feng Shui Concepts to Help your Cayman Islands Home Sell

To put the best face on a listing and appeal to buyers who follow Feng Shui principles, keep these tips in mind.

1. Pay special attention to the front door, which is considered the “mouth of chi” (chi is the “life force” of all things) and one of the most powerful aspects of the entire property. Abundance, blessings, opportunities, and good fortune enter through the front door. It’s also the first impression buyers have of how well the sellers have taken care of the rest of the property. Make sure the area around the front door is swept clean, free of cobwebs and clutter. Make sure all lighting is straight and properly hung. Better yet, light the path leading up to the front door to create an inviting atmosphere.

2. Chi energy can be flushed away wherever there are drains in the home. To keep the good forces of a home in, always keep the toilet seats down and close the doors to bathrooms.

3. The master bed should be in a place of honor, power, and protection, which is farthest from and facing toward the entryway of the room. It’s even better if you can place the bed diagonally in the farthest corner. Paint the room in colors that promote serenity, relaxation, and romance, such as soft tones of green, blue, and lavender.

4. The dining room symbolizes the energy and power of family togetherness. Make sure the table is clear and uncluttered during showings. Use an attractive tablecloth to enhance the look of the table while also softening sharp corners.

5. The windows are considered to be the eyes of the home. Getting the windows professionally cleaned will make the home sparkle and ensure that the view will be optimally displayed.

New Hospital in Turks and Caicos

Doctor Robyn Barnes and nurse practitioner Nicky Mullins are members of the management team at the new Cheshire Hall Hospital in Providenciales, part of the Turks and Caicos Islands. Cheshire Hall is a state of the art facility, built and run by Interhealth Canada. A similar centre has also opened on the Turks and Caicos’ capital island of Grand Turk.

The Providenciales hospital will serve a population of approximately 22,000 and boasts previously unavailable facilities such as a dentistry, rehabilitation and physiotherapy centre, dialysis unit, x-ray suite, hi-tech maternity wing and emergency department.

The two doctors worked together in Dorchester, England previously. Dr Barnes left Dorchester 12-years-ago to work in the Caymen Islands. Nicky worked as a nurse practitioner at both Dorset County Hospital and Bridport Community Hospital until February this year.

Dr. Barnes explained, “Until now, medical care throughout the Turks and Caicos Islands has been very limited with all serious cases having to be flown off island to Miami.

“But now we have some of the most advanced and modern medical equipment available anywhere in the world and this will be a huge boost to a population of people who have previously had to make do with a very basic service.”

Nicky added, “The big difference here is that when you finish work you can be on the beach in 10 minutes, watching the dolphins and enjoying the sunshine all year round, which is something you can’t do at home. I have two young children over here and it’s a fabulous place for them to grow up.”
